Conference time! Given by Kati Casto

last friday 20th, we received a conference about 10 different tips that are going to be very useful for us that are studying to become good english teachers. Katya Casto, an american teacher, was the enchargue of gave us the tips that I am going to talk about...

1: Be or get excited about the content
she explains in that point the importance of being an excited person in order to transmit our good energy to our students and make them feel more comfortable in the classroom and interested on learning.

2: Create a lesson structure that works for you and follow it consistenly
in here, she told us about the importance of planning a lesson for our classes and how we can get success in the development of the class because with this, we are following an order of the topic we present each day.

3: Command respect from your students
"A lack of boundaries invites a lack of respect" this was the main phrase presented in this step, she mentioned how useful is to create rules in the classroom. because we have to be respected, also bacause we have to make our students be responsible with themselves and it is going to make them learn more and be quite in the moment they are receiving the class.

4: Give students leadership opportunities and other responsibilities
the teacher told us that give responsabilities in the classroom to students help a lot to improve their abilities and make them leave their chyness in the moment they have to develop a task.

5: Incorporate VAK-visual, auditory, kinesthetic- in every lesson
she said that, incorporating those skills in each class is very useful in order to keep the students concentrated in the class. also it help us to develop interesting and not boring classes

6: Plan questions on knowledge goals
this step has to be based on what do we want to introduce on students minds, what we want to teach them and what is the best way to teach each topic. this can be thought in the moment we are planning a lesson to the type of learners we have to interact with.

7: Evaluate using rubrics
as she mentioned I consider this step have to be apply on each evaluation we will have in the classroom because this is an endorsement for us in the moment of give a grade to each student.

8: Collect and use data
in this step she told us that in order to know the previous knowledge that our students have it is important to evaluate them. it could be with worksheets or questions when we areworking with a new group. but also with the group we have more time working it is important to always check for understanding for us to know if they comprenhend the class.

9: Take time to reflect and adjust
in here, she asked us to always take a time to think and adjust about our classess. what we did good or bad, what we can improve in th next time. this is going to help us to go forward, grow up and become better teachers with each experience.

10: Encourage a growth mindset
this step is about encourage our students to have a positive mind and help them to feel confident in the classroom, because as a teachers, we have the role of help our students to become successful people.


Also, she put in prectice with us some activities to make us think and share with some of our partners about how we felt until this moment in our carreer, how can we go better and in which areas of teaching we develop better. to conclude, I felt really interested with the conference because she made us think a lot about our future as teachers, and she introduces in our minds excellent tips.

Last teaching practicum

Hello everyone, and good bye to the teaching practicum!! 
last friday 13th was the las time for us to practice with kids, and it was a little hard for me.
I was my last time teaching and the first dealing with rebelious.. It was difficult because the lesson was not the one we have created. Our topic was present perfect and our skill was listening. The warm up and the pre listening was developed by Gaby. 

Then, it was my turn I had to worked on the during. The lesson that we receive had two during listening activities, but I had prepared another one in order to made my time with the kids more understood. Sadly I forgot to develop my last activity because I was descontroled when I saw the kids really distracted and bored. we choice an audio called what have you done? and it was about two people in a phonecall talking about the vacations of one of them and what she have been done on the trip.
I started showing them the words they will going to listen in the audio. Gaby had shown the words that were verbs in base form so I shown them in past participle, because they had to identify the sentences in past perfect. My activities needed their complete attention because they had to listen the audio and identified the words they hear. But just two of them were working, other was copying and like that. I tried to made them repit the words as an improvised activity before asked them to identify the complete sentences with the aim of make them wake up. They did not colaborate as I thought. Then, I bring to them an envelope with words and images realted to the audio and I asked them to look for the correct image to the sentence and order them according to the audio, but even when we recorded the audio many times they could not identify the order each sentence had been mentioned. So I just let them look for the sentence and the correct image. I felt worried because I felt that I had no more time to develop my last activity and for that I told Mary to continuous with the last part that was her turn.
 She was alittle rude, but she developed ther activities well. First, she ask the to draw what they liked more from the audio. After that, she asked to look for the correct sentence to the draw in the sentences I have given to them before. She finished with BINGO. 

Here I include some videos with tips that could be helpful in the moment to make students pay attention to the class. This as an advice for my group and the other I observed after us. But also for all of you my colleagues because we need a lot of tricks on the sleve. Believe me that I am going to take them into consideration...



The next par of the class was developed by Melany and Liliana. I liked the idea of them to made an interesting story. They were based on the super heroes and that was amazing because they instantly caught the kids attention and keep them interested. I liked from Liliana that she asked to the kids to read parts of the story after she read it complete.They also thaught in the idea of bring stars to their good behavior during the class and at the end bring a gift. I could not see all their activities because with my group, we had to prepare for each kid a cup with fruit coctail as a healty refreshment for them.





To conclude, it was a really nice experience for me to interact by first time with different tipes of kids. and this step we have given is really important as an experience to see our good and bad behavior giving classes and what we can do better in order to grow up in our carreer

Once again as an observer...

This time I want to start with a phrase that caught my attention. "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea." Antoine de Saint Exupery. I choose this phrase as a message to our minds for the moment we teach our students because it is important not just giving a class but building knowledge inside of them.

my next point is to talk about the vocabulary and grammar class I observed last friday 6th, I consider that teaching grammar is a little more hard than vocabulary but the two groups did it well.

the first group that teach vocabulary was Esmeralda, Grisel and Rony. I liked the technique the group implement in order to make the kids pay attention. It was a gift for each one putted in a little box. the class was separated into two grous of kids and they will recieve some candys at the end of the class as a gift for their good behavior. The gift were some candies put in two boxes, one for group one and the othe for group two. If the kid was breaking the rules he lose their candy and it was given to the ones from the other group, put in their box and it was like that during all the class.
Then, Esmeralda introduces the topic and the vocabulary with a creative activity with flash cards and making them repeat it s many times as necessary and putting away one flash card each time they started repeating.

Following, was Grisel´s turn. She continuos with some others activities to make them memorize the words. As the one in which she past one kid to the front and pasted different words from the vocabulary on kids forehead to make him guess the words with the mimics the others did.


For the last part of that class Rony conclude with an activity about matching and then a game with a cube that made teachers confirm that kids had memorize the words and that they did a good job.

TIME FROM GROUP 2
That time the teachers were  Isabel, Nancy and Nathaly. they developed the grammar topic "present perfect"
This time I forgot to take pictures of Isabel but, she introduces the topic to the kids. first she explains some examples on the board, the she used a signboard with some sentences and asked the kids to repeat it.

Then, was Nancy´s turn. She made them work on the floor. the activity was that kids had to look for the corret words in order to make a sentence. The group who finished first was the winer and the looser lost a candy from their box.

finally was Nathaly´s turn. She developed some funny activities that made kids keep away their tiredness and made them feel funny and exciting! she asked them to passed around their bodys an ula hoop and during that time she was counting from one to ten. When she stopped counting the one who had the hoop lost and had to made a sentence using present perfect.

To conclude, at the end of the class kids received their corresponding gifts and some snaks. I consider that both groups put in practice very good techniques and activities in order to develop a comprenhensible class. I like to observe my classmates because it helps to improve myself.

This time I was an observer!

 Hello everybody I´m here again! last time was my turn of observating my classmates developing in front of the kids. It was really nice to see the capacity and strategies each one has to give a class.

I like the way in which Isabel read the history for the children! she looks so inspired!

Nathaly, caught the attention of everybody with the customs. It was a really funny activity that works perfet as a production activity.

 Grisel has the natural the gift to interact with kids, I saw her very confident in all her part of the class.
Esmelarda introduce the topic in a veri interesting way, even do she looks a little nervous.
Sadly I could not take pictures from Isela and Rony but, Isela shonw an attitude very excited and dinamic. Rony was serious as he is all the time jeje. But he always has correct vocabulary. I like to be this time and observer and was exciting for me to give feedback to my classmates, because is a way to help them to improve and becomes better each time!
